familyJay McConville is a family man, a successful business executive, an active community leader, and a veteran. He and Sue, his wife of 24 years, have lived in Alexandria with their three children since 1996. Their two youngest, Colin and Katelyn, attend Fairfax public schools while their oldest, Jake, is a sophomore at Radford University. Jay and Sue moved to Alexandria after attending school in Virginia (George Mason University for Jay, Marymount for Sue) and their service in the Army.

Community Leader
Jay has served for seven years on the Fort Hunt Youth Athletic Association (FHYAA) board, the last four as President. Jay is also an active member in the Waynewood Citizen’s Association and the Mt. Vernon Council of Citizen’s Associations. At his local church, Jay has served in many capacities – including many years as a youth leader, and currently as a Sunday school teacher and as Chair of the annual Commitment Campaign.

Jay’s passion for athletics goes beyond his duties as FHYAA President, including coaching many youth teams in basketball, baseball, and football. Jay is also an active runner and triathlete, competing in the Richmond and Boston Marathons and the Ironman Triathlon in 2008.

Jay is well known as the lead singer and trumpet player in the local bands Beats Workin’ and Close to Home. Both bands are active in charity fundraising, having raised approximately $100,000 over the years.

Business Experience
Jay is currently a Vice President at Chandler/May, Inc., a defense system integrator specializing in the development and manufacture of unmanned system’s ground control stations and tactical Command and Control Shelters. Before his current position, Jay successfully served as an Operations Vice President – leading a $300+ million/year division with over 1,500 employees.

Jay won the General Dynamics 2003 President’s Integrity and Ethics Award, and the GTE 2000 Warner Award for technical excellence and achievement.  He has many business training credentials, including attending the Darden School for Business Leadership Course in 2005.

Veteran
Jay served as a US Army Intelligence Officer, leading both tactical reconnaissance units and analytical organizations. Qualified as Ranger, Airborne, and Air Assault, his leadership also includes service in the 1st Calvary Division during Desert Shield and Desert Storm. Jay’s military decorations include:
